Power Platform This Week: September 4-11, 2026
Microsoft did not ship a major Power Platform product this week. What they did do is retire Release Plans. From now on, Power Platform, Dynamics 365 and Dataverse capabilities show up on the AI at Work roadmap. If your planning still follows the old wave calendar, this is the week to change it.
Release Plans gone, AI at Work roadmap takes over
From September 2026 Microsoft is not publishing new Release Plans on Learn. Anything that would have sat in a Wave 2 plan now appears on the AI at Work roadmap. Wave 1 plans stay up as a snapshot and will not be updated. The Release Planner tool shuts down on November 15, 2026.
The old model was one document every six months. The new one is a running list: items appear when they are planned and ship when they are ready. You get more frequent updates, and you lose the once-per-wave planning meeting. If your governance still cites Release Plan dates, those checkpoints need rewriting.
Wave 1 governance features landing now
The 2026 wave 1 cycle runs through September, and some of the governance features from that plan are landing in tenants now. The plan listed admin controls for agent security, risk assessment in Copilot Studio, and governance agents that watch the tenant. They will show up in the Admin Center over the next weeks, not on one launch day.
If you already run Copilot Studio agents in production, look at the new security controls as they appear. Risk assessment matters if those agents call APIs or touch sensitive data. The governance agents that monitor and remediate are the ones worth tracking even if they are not in your tenant yet.
Quiet week for product news. Retiring Release Plans is the lasting change. Everything else will keep landing one item at a time on the AI at Work roadmap.
